The Quilt Festival is held in the town of Algood, Tennessee and quilt displays and other events are held in different locations in the town. Here are the locations and what you can expect to see and do at each location:
1. Trinity Assembly Church is located at the corner of Main St. and Wall St.
This is where you will come to register/purchase your ticket, but it will be in a different building from previous festivals. The signs will direct you.
After you register you will see our sponsors displays, and quilt displays for challenge quilts, bed quilts, appliqued quilts, and wall hangings.
This will be the location where those going on the quilt barn tour on Friday will meet to board the bus at 9 AM.
Crafters' booths will be on the grassy area next to the building. Entrance to the crafters' area does not require a ticket.
2. Algood Senior Center, located just beyond the crafters' booths at 125 Fourth Ave. N.
Entrance to the Country Store does not require a ticket. You will find many bargains and delights prepared by the people that attend the activities of the Senior Center. They prepare for this event all year. You will find baked goods, jelly, fabric, needlework and quilting books and magazines, and more.
3. Burtons Chapel United Methodist Church, 133 Mill Street.
This oldest Black church in Putnam County is a fitting location for historical displays. You can bet these are treasured heirlooms that have been passed down from generations to generation.
4. Algood United Methodist Church, 135 W. Main Street.
Activities here start in the Family Life Center Thursday, Sept. 15th with a dinner, quilt turning, and auction. On the following days you can browse through the vendors' booths and purchase things like quilting supplies, jewelry, Tupperware, and other items of interest. This is also where you can buy lunch.
In the sanctuary will be displays of old and antique quilts. Be sure to view these and make your vote for the Viewers' Choice awards.
5. Masters Healthcare Center, 278 Dry Valley Rd.
You will find displays of quilts belonging to residents and staff of the healthcare facility.
6. Algood School, 2525 Walton Road
Displays are held in the libraries of the elementary and middle schools and feature the quilts of the students and their families as well as those of the teachers and other staff.
